Description
Dog Breed: Norwegian Elkhound (medium coat). Meet Kenzo â A Young Lady Ready to Grow With You! At just 7 months old, Kenzo is a beautiful Norwegian Elkhound with all the charm and character the breed is known for. Her striking double coat, sturdy build, and bright, attentive expression make her impossible to overlook. True to her heritage, Kenzo has incredibly sharp hearing and is always aware of what's happening around her, making her an observant and curious companion. Kenzo is an independent young pup who prefers to quietly take in new people rather than rush over for attention. Once she settles in, her playful personality begins to shine! She enjoys playtime, has lived with cats and generally ignores them, and is comfortable with people around her food and toys. Like many adolescent dogs, Kenzo is still learning about the world. She can be nervous around unfamiliar dogs and new situations, pulls enthusiastically on leash, and is still working on her house-training. With her intelligence, athletic nature, and loyal spirit, Kenzo has all the ingredients to become an incredible companion. She'll thrive with an active family committed to training and helping her channel her puppy energy into good manners.

Overview:
The Norwegian Elkhound is a robust and ancient breed, originating in Scandinavia where it served as a versatile hunting dog, primarily for large game like moose (elk). Physically, they are distinctive with their thick, weather-resistant double coat, typically in shades of grey and black, and their medium build, weighing generally between 48-55 pounds. Their curled tail and prick ears add to their alert and intelligent appearance. Temperamentally, Elkhounds are known for being loyal, courageous, and remarkably friendly with their families, often displaying a playful and affectionate nature. While they can be excellent companions for active families, their independent streak and high energy levels mean they require consistent training and plenty of exercise; they are generally not well-suited for small apartment living without significant effort to meet their needs. Like many breeds, they can be prone to certain health conditions such as hip dysplasia and progressive retinal atrophy, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important for their well-being.
