He's a true mixed breed with adorable hound ears and a personality that's larger than life. Buddy is confident, curious, and always ready for his next adventure. The basics: ✅ Crate trained ✅ Food motivated and eager to learn Working on potty training Loves walks but is still learning not to pull (birds are very exciting!) Buddy currently lives with four dogs, a cat, and two young children. He's done well with both, but because he's an active puppy who is still a little mouthy, we'd recommend a home with children ages 7 and up. Buddy needs an active family that will keep him mentally and physically engaged. He's smart and athletic, making him a great future hiking, adventure, or running partner. Once he's had a chance to burn off his energy, he's happiest curled up in your lap for cuddles. He'll thrive with an experienced owner who will provide structure, consistency, and continued training. Buddy does have a prey drive outdoors, so he'll chase birds and squirrels, but he should do well with cats in the home when introduced properly. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
