This sweet, gentle girl, with the most captivating eyes, is looking for a family to call her own. She’s a low to medium energy gal who enjoys her daily walks around the neighborhood followed by a nice long nap. She’s a loveable girl who is perfectly content to hang out with her humans. June does best with other dogs after proper introductions (like a pack walk before meeting). She’d also be fine as an only dog. June has not yet met cats, but would likely be able to coexist with them. She has done well with older dog-savvy children who respect her space and give her time to approach them and would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. June is fully house trained and is mostly crate trained. She may whine in her crate for a few minutes before settling in for the night and especially loves when her foster mom gives her a tasty treat in her crate. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
