Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Bella! If you're looking for a gentle soul with a heart full of love, Bella might just be your perfect match. At 9 weeks old and 15 lbs, this sweet girl is searching for a forever family to call her own. While her breed mix is a mystery, we expect her to grow into a medium-to-large dog, likely somewhere between 40-60 lbs. Bella and her siblings had a difficult beginning. Rescued from neglect in Beverly, WA, they arrived in foster care underweight, sick, and unsure of the world around them. Since then, Bella has blossomed into a happy, healthy puppy who is learning that life can be safe, fun, and full of love. Known affectionately as "Belly," she's the laid-back snuggle bug of the bunch. She loves meeting new people, adores children, and would be perfectly content spending her day following her favorite humans from room to room. Bella's favorite things: Cuddling on the couch Kids and people of all ages Making dog friends Treats and praise Wrestling with her siblings Being close to her people Bella is litter trained, smart, and eager to learn. She's motivated by treats and affection, making her a great candidate for continued training. While she can be a little shy around new dogs and unfamiliar situations, once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines through. She absolutely adores her foster family's older female dog and is respectful of canine boundaries, something her foster mom says can't always be said for her brothers! Bella would thrive in a home with another friendly dog, but she'd also be happy with someone who works from home, is retired, or simply has plenty of time to spend with her. Like all puppies, Bella is still teething and learning good manners. She can be a little mouthy when excited and enjoys chewing on just about anything she can find, but she redirects well to appropriate toys and is eager to learn. And one of her foster family's favorite quirks? Bella occasionally sees her reflection in a mirror and barks at that mysterious puppy staring back at her. With love, patience, and training, Bella has all the makings of an incredible family companion. Could Bella be the missing piece of your family? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
