Description
Dog Breed: American Bulldog (short coat). Adoption Fee: 410. TILLY (watch my video!) Female, spayed ~ 1-1/2 years old American Bully 54 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Good with kids, cats and dogs Tilly may be short in stature, but she’s thick, sturdy and packed with personality. What strikes us most about Tilly is how affectionate and trusting she is. With her cropped ears and sturdy little barrel chest, someone clearly wanted her to look tough. The truth couldn’t be further from reality. Beneath that exterior is a gentle, tender soul who simply wants to be loved. Tilly is also just plain charming, the kind of dog people fall for instantly. She’s made it clear that being close to her people is her favorite place to be. She loves giving kisses and seems happiest when she’s curled up beside us, soaking up endless pets and cuddles before drifting off to sleep. Mostly, she’s a couch potato who’s content to snuggle the day away. That said, Tilly does have a playful side. Roll a ball her way and she’ll spring into action, moving much faster than you’d ever expect from such a stocky little pup. Watching her little bursts of enthusiasm is guaranteed to make you smile. Tilly has also proven herself to be an exceptional patient. At her veterinary appointment, she wasn’t nervous in the slightest. In fact, she lounged around as though she owned the place, remaining calm, cooperative, and trusting throughout the entire visit. One thing we’ve discovered is that Tilly seems to absolutely adore children. In fact, whenever her foster needs a little help convincing Tilly to do something, their daughter is the one they call in to lead the way. Tilly also loves other dogs, happy to play tug or sleep nearby. Whether she joins a home with another friendly dog or becomes the center of attention herself, we think she has plenty of love to give. Tilly also has one very important opinion: rain is highly overrated. Unfortunately for her, there may be nothing cuter than a short-stack dog in a raincoat. Sweet, cuddly, and endlessly lovable, Tilly is ready to find the family she deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Tilly may be your perfect match! Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here! Overview:
The American Bulldog, a powerful and athletic breed, boasts a fascinating lineage rooted in the working bulldogs brought to America by immigrants. These dogs were bred for various farm tasks, including herding and guarding, which contributed to their robust build and tenacious spirit. Physically, they are strong and muscular, typically weighing between 60-120 pounds, with a broad head, powerful jaws, and a short, dense coat that can come in various patterns, often with white as the predominant color. Temperamentally, American Bulldogs are known for being courageous, confident, and incredibly loyal to their families. While they possess a protective instinct, they are also affectionate and good-natured, making them excellent companions. They generally get along well with children and other pets when properly socialized, though their strength and energy require attentive supervision. Due to their active nature and need for space, American Bulldogs are best suited for homes with yards rather than small apartments. They thrive on regular exercise and mental stimulation, otherwise, they may develop destructive habits. Regarding health, while generally hardy, they can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, ichthyosis, and various allergies. Prospective owners should always seek out reputable breeders who conduct health screenings to ensure the well-being of their future furry friend.
