Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Luther! ❤️ At just 5 months old, Luther is finally getting the chance to experience what being a puppy should feel like. For the first five months of his life, Luther lived outside in filth. Instead of soft beds, toys, and the love every puppy deserves, he knew dirt and neglect. But despite his rough start, his sweet spirit has never stopped shining. Now, Luther is discovering all the good things in life—and he's absolutely falling in love with a comfy couch! ️❤️ He's learning that naps are better on blankets, treats are delicious, belly rubs are the best, and that people can be kind. Luther is looking for a family that will continue showing him the world he's been missing. He'll need patience as he learns the ropes of being a beloved house dog, but watching him discover new experiences is incredibly rewarding. Every day brings another little victory, and every wag of his tail reminds us just how resilient dogs can be. Luther's past doesn't define him—his future does. He's ready for a forever family that will teach him all the wonderful things life has to offer, fill his days with adventures, and remind him every single day that he is safe, loved, and home. Could you be the one to give Luther the happy ending he's been waiting for? ❤️ We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogsccrcdogs with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at .ccrcdogs, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
