Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Mopsy our resident 1 1/2 year old terrier mix who came to us as a stray. Mopsy was shy and slow to warm up at first but with a little time she has shown us that all she wants is love. Her favorite thing is to have the people she trust with her and get all of the love. When she gets excited she jumps straight up and tries to bop you in the face. While not a habit most will love she can be taught not do it anymore plus more time with the people she loves will calm her down. If your looking for a master at playing catch then Mopsy would be a match for you. She will chase the ball as long as her little legs don't get tired and bring it back. If she doesn't grab the ball the first time then just tell her to go get her ball and she will run right back and get it for you!. She would love a family to play with during the day and to sleep with at night. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
