Dog Breed: Great Pyrenees / Border Collie / Mixed (long coat). NJ Mounella is now in a NJ foster home and is available for adoption! Meet Mounella, an enchanting Great Pyrenees mix with a playful personality and boundless energy. Ready to turn every day into an adventure, Mounella is a wonderful combination of playful and calm. She may be zooming around the yard in one moment, but is content to collapse into your lap and snuggle in the next! Mounella is happiest when exploring the yard, playing fetch, or chewing on a toy close to her people. She’s an extremely loving and affectionate girl and is friendly with everyone that she meets, including small children, other dogs, and even cats. Mounella is curious, intelligent, and is picking up very quickly on house-training, leash walking, and all the puppy basics. She was well-behaved for her bath, seems to be very treat-motivated, and is adjusting well to sleeping through the night in her crate. Mounella’s mom is a Pyrenees/Border Collie mix and her dad is a Pyrenees/pit mix, and though she is a bit more petite than her siblings, we are expecting her to grow into a large dog. This sweet girl is searching for a forever family that shares her zest for life. Her ideal home is one where her spirited nature and gentle heart can flourish, perhaps with a backyard to explore or siblings (furry or human!) to join in on her playful antics. Mounella is eager to learn and grow, and if you’re ready for all the cuddles, curiosity, and companionship Mounella has to offer, she’s waiting to meet you with open paws and an open heart. Mounella is fixed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Her adoption donation is $600. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.

The Pyrenees Border Collie, a compelling hybrid of the intelligent Border Collie and the majestic Great Pyrenees, emerges as a fascinating and capable companion. Originating from combining these two distinct working breeds, its purpose is often to blend the herding prowess of the Border Collie with the guarding instincts of the Great Pyrenees. Physically, expect a medium-to-large dog, typically exhibiting a dense, weather-resistant coat, often in shades of black, white, merle, or tricolor, with a build that suggests both agility and strength. Temperamentally, they are generally loyal, intelligent, and protective, making them excellent family guardians. However, their intelligence also means they require consistent training and plenty of mental and physical stimulation to prevent boredom. While their protective nature can be wonderful for families, early socialization is crucial. Due to their size and need for exercise, they are not typically suited for apartment living and thrive in homes with ample outdoor space. Health-wise, they can be predisposed to conditions affecting their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are vital.
