Dog Breed: Great Pyrenees / Border Collie / Mixed (long coat). NJ Mane is now in a NJ foster home and is available for adoption! Meet Mane, an adorable Great Pyrenees mix with a big heart and a calm, laid-back demeanor. Though he may be a little shy at first, he adjusts quickly and is happy to show off his sweet, playful side once comfortable. He enjoys lounging in the yard, rolling in the grass, following his people around, and sitting back and watching the action unfold. Mane's friendly nature extends to small children, other dogs, and even cats, making him an easy addition to almost any family dynamic! Mane is curious, intelligent, and is picking up very quickly on house-training, leash walking, and all the puppy basics. He’s treat-motivated and a people-pleaser, which makes training fun and rewarding. He is even already quietly sleeping through the night in his crate! Mane’s mom is a Pyrenees/Border Collie mix and his dad is a Pyrenees/pit mix, so we are expecting him to grow into a large dog. Mane is searching for a loving forever home where he can continue to grow and thrive. A family that appreciates both outdoor adventures and cozy indoor cuddles would be ideal for this smart, affectionate pup. If you're ready to welcome a devoted companion who will fill your days with joy, come meet Mane! Mane is fixed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccines. His adoption donation is $600. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.

Originating from combining these two distinct working breeds, its purpose is often to blend the herding prowess of the Border Collie with the guarding instincts of the Great Pyrenees. Physically, expect a medium-to-large dog, typically exhibiting a dense, weather-resistant coat, often in shades of black, white, merle, or tricolor, with a build that suggests both agility and strength. Temperamentally, they are generally loyal, intelligent, and protective, making them excellent family guardians. However, their intelligence also means they require consistent training and plenty of mental and physical stimulation to prevent boredom. While their protective nature can be wonderful for families, early socialization is crucial. Due to their size and need for exercise, they are not typically suited for apartment living and thrive in homes with ample outdoor space. Health-wise, they can be predisposed to conditions affecting their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are vital.
