Dog Breed: Terrier. Currently located at our Evansville, IN location Meet, Spino! Meet Spino! Spino is a handsome black mixed-breed puppy born in May 2026. At his August 2026 weigh-in, he was about 17 pounds and is still growing! Spino is a true puppy with plenty of energy and a whole lot of personality. He loves chew toys, especially anything that makes noise, and he's always ready for a game. He's already learning his manners and knows how to sit for a treat—and he's definitely motivated by snacks! He's still working on potty training and keeping his kennel clean, but he's making a lot of progress and improving every day. Like most puppies, he'll need a family willing to continue working with him as he grows. Spino is a little shadow and will happily follow you around wherever you go. When he's ready to settle down, he loves laying in your lap or curling up at your feet. Spino can be a little rough when he plays with cats, so we think he'd do best in a home without cats. He's a good puppy with plenty of that classic puppy energy and is looking for a family ready for all the fun, training, and love that comes with raising a young dog. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
