Dog Breed: Poodle (unknown type). Hi! My name is Raggedy Ann, and I am BONDED with my best friend, Raggedy Andy. We are a package deal and must be adopted together. I am a very sweet, gentle girl who is a little shy at first, but with patience, love, and plenty of TLC, I will blossom into a wonderful companion. I sit nicely while being groomed and will need regular grooming every few weeks to keep my beautiful curls looking their best. I love having a soft, comfy bed where I can relax. I don't play much right now, but as I grow more comfortable and confident, I'm sure my playful side will come out. If you're looking for a loving pair to welcome into your home, come meet Raggedy Andy and me! To adopt one of our animals, please visit our shelter, open Tuesday-Friday from Noon-5pm and Saturday from Noon-4pm. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
