Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Meet Ellie, a sweet little Chihuahua who is learning just how wonderful life can be. Ellie was rescued from a breeder who was having trouble selling her. At a year old, she had never been vetted or spayed and had very little experience with life outside the home. But Ellie is a quick learner, and within just a few days, she settled into her foster home and began figuring out how to be a dog. Today, Ellie is a happy, playful little girl who has blossomed in foster care. She loves playing with her canine foster siblings, Nugget and Ryder, and looks to the other dogs for guidance. She's definitely more of a follower than a leader, so having another confident, friendly dog in her forever home would likely help her continue to thrive. Ellie has discovered the joys of toys and especially loves playing with her ball. After a full day of playing and napping, she likes to crash out with her favorite ball beside her. She also has a sweet, cuddly side and loves snuggling up with her favorite blanket. She's doing great with her house manners, is crate trained, and walks nicely on leash using a harness. She's also a terrific little travel companion and loves riding in the car. Ellie is sweet and loving and has a happy, gentle personality. She's still a little nervous around strangers and will often tuck herself beside her person when she's unsure. She's learning to trust new people and has gone from being nervous around her foster's grandsons to now allowing them to pet her. She's made incredible progress in just a few weeks! Ellie would do best with a patient family who will continue building her confidence and exposing her to the world at her own pace. A friendly canine companion would be a big plus. Once she feels comfortable, this little girl is ready to play, cuddle, and follow her people wherever they go.
