Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Cute as a button Benny is ready for his forever home! Benny is a 1 1/2 year old mixed breed dog. At only 38 pounds he’s just the right size to fit comfortably into any home, backseat adventure or cozy couch session! Benny is a sweetheart. He enjoys spending time with our volunteers and is very playful. He will entertain himself with toys and is a big fan of our little kiddie pool! Benny has a gentle, loving nature and would likely do well with just about any family. He also appears to be dog friendly! If you are looking for a lovable medium sized pup to add to your family, Benny just might be the perfect fit! Benny is neutered , microchipped and up to date with vaccines. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
