Ringo is a 2-year-old, medium-sized mixed breed who just made the long journey from Texas, and seriously… have you SEEN those eyes?! Add in his incredibly cool coloring, and this handsome guy is pretty hard to resist! Ringo is a little shy and hesitant when he first meets you. His foster mom can’t help but wonder what this sweet boy may have experienced in his past, because sometimes the world still feels a little scary to him. But once Ringo realizes he is safe, the most wonderful little personality comes out. ❤️ This boy is an absolute LOVE. He wants to snuggle, crawl right into your lap, and soak up all the affection he can get. He’s already making friends, too! He’s done great meeting other dogs at the dog park and has even made friends with the resident CAT! Ringo has also been a superstar in his foster home. He does great in his kennel and, so far, no accidents in the house! What Ringo needs now is a forever family who will be patient with him, help build his confidence, and teach him that humans can be kind. In return, you’re going to get one incredibly sweet, snuggly and loving companion who is ready for a lifetime of adventures by your side. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
