Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Jack Russell Terrier. Meet Taylor, aka TayTay TayTay is the sweet mama of our Eras Litter, and while she still has a few weeks of mom duty left, we're hoping to find her forever family now so she can go straight home once her puppies are ready to leave the nest. First, we need to discuss the obvious: the underbite. TayTay comes equipped with the most adorable scruffy terrier face and a tiny little underbite that regularly puts her bottom teeth on display. It is ridiculous. It is perfect. We love it. Behind that adorable face is a girl who is still learning that people can be safe. TayTay came to us from a hoarding situation, so much of normal life is new to her. She's nervous and cautious, but she isn't nippy or reactive. When something feels scary, her instinct is to freeze or hide rather than fight. But here's the really exciting part: the progress she's made in only three weeks has been incredible. When TayTay first arrived, she wouldn't approach me at all. Now she gets excited when I walk into the dog room, greets me with tail wags, comes up to me on her own, and even gives kisses. Every day, we're seeing a little more of the dog underneath all that uncertainty. TayTay needs an adopter who understands that trust may take a little time and who will let her move at her own pace. We truly believe that once she's finished raising her puppies and has someone dedicated to her, she's going to continue blossoming into a wonderful, increasingly confident little dog. Because she can still be easily overwhelmed, we think she'd be happiest in a quieter home with adults or older, respectful kids. She doesn't need someone with special training or a magic formula. She needs patience, consistency, kindness, and someone willing to celebrate the little victories while she figures out just how good life can be. TayTay is still nursing her puppies and will need to remain with them for approximately another 2–4 weeks. That means her adopter will need to be a little patient with us, too. Our dream is to have her family waiting so that when her job as Mama TayTay is officially finished, she doesn't have to make another stop along the way. She raised her babies. Now it's time for TayTay's Era. And yes, the underbite comes with her. pipsrescue/adopt

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
