Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 550.00. Meet Monte Cristo — Part of the Sandwich Litter! Meet Monte Cristo, one of the adorable puppies from the Sandwich Litter! Monte is a sweet, slightly shy boy who is happiest when he knows his people are nearby. While he may not be the first puppy to run off and explore, he loves staying close to his foster family and takes comfort in having his people nearby. Monte can be a little cautious when meeting someone new, so his forever family will need to give him some time to settle in and feel comfortable. Slow introductions, patience, and allowing him to come around at his own pace will be important. Once he feels safe and knows he can trust you, we’re sure his sweet personality will continue to shine. Monte is doing great with his nighttime routine! He sleeps in a kennel with his littermate and usually takes about 10 minutes to settle down before he’s ready for puppy dreams. Even better, he is potty trained through the night! During the day, Monte is still working on becoming completely house-trained. He has a good start, but he is still a puppy and has plenty to learn. His new family will need to continue working with him using patience, consistency, and lots of positive reinforcement. Monte may be a little more reserved at first, but sometimes the quieter puppies have the sweetest way of finding their place in your heart. He’s looking for a forever family who will give him the time and patience he needs to feel safe, build confidence, and become the wonderful companion he’s meant to be. Adoption fee of $550 includes: veterinary exam, DHPP up to date at time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and deworming. All of our adoption fees include veterinary exam, age appropriate vaccines (up to date at time of adoption) spay/neuter, microchip and deworming. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
