Description
Dog Breed: Cocker Spaniel. Bodie is a very sweet, absolutely beautiful little boy who just needs a little time to know that he's safe. He can be cautious at first, but with patience and kindness, he'll begin to let his personality shine. Bodie was originally purchased with the intention of being used as a breeding dog. When his owners quickly realized it wasn't going to work out, they allowed him to come into rescue—and now we're looking for a home where he'll simply get to be a loved family dog. He's small in size and great with other dogs, and we think a patient, understanding family will be rewarded with a wonderful companion. Bodie isn't looking for someone to rush him. He needs someone willing to give him the time and space to build trust at his own pace. Because of his timid nature, a securely fenced yard is required for Bodie's new home. Sometimes the dogs who take a little longer to give you their trust are the ones whose trust means the most. Adoption Fee: $215 Bodie is fixed, up to date on shots, wormings and preventatives, and microchipped with lifetime registration. Apply here: Bodie's Adoption Application We cannot guarantee breed or adult size.

Overview:
The Cocker Spaniel, a beloved breed with roots in the United Kingdom, was originally bred as a gundog to flush out woodcock. They are instantly recognizable by their medium size, typically weighing 20-30 pounds, their luxurious, often wavy coat (which comes in a variety of colors), and their long, expressive ears that frame their gentle, eager-to-please eyes. Known for their merry and affectionate temperament, Cockers are generally good-natured, intelligent, and relatively easy to train, making them an excellent choice for families with children and even first-time dog owners. While adaptable, their moderate exercise needs can be met with daily walks and playtime, making them suitable for apartment living as long as they receive sufficient mental and physical stimulation. Prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including ear infections (due to their long ears), eye conditions like cataracts, and hip dysplasia, which highlight the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
