Ready to apply? .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Here’s Your Quick Peek: Halo is a very shy, skittish Miniature Poodle mix who came to CPR as a stray from Durham County, NC. She is gentle and quiet, but nervous around people. She will run away from human interaction and may try to escape if frightened or pressured. Halo will need a long decompression period and an adopter experienced with fearful dogs. Must have: A secure fenced yard, A calm, quiet home, another confident dog to mentor her, an adopter experienced with shy or feral‑leaning dogs Exercise: Low — quiet yard time and gentle routine. Best with: Adults and a calm resident dog. Not ideal for: Homes with children, loud environments, or no other dog. Energy level: Low — quiet companionship. Halo is healthy, spayed, and up to date on vaccines. She is house trained, learning leash skills, and does well with small dogs and cats. She is a Velcro dog once she trusts you, but trust takes time. Good with dogs: Yes. Good with kids: Not recommended. Cats: Yes. Fun fact: Halo gains confidence by watching other dogs — she follows their lead and learns from their calm behavior. Overview:
The Miniature Poodle, a charming and intelligent companion, originated in Germany as a water retriever before being refined in France. They are renowned for their elegant appearance, characterized by a distinctive curly coat (often requiring regular grooming to prevent matting), long muzzle, and expressive dark eyes. Standing typically between 10 to 15 inches tall and weighing 10 to 15 pounds, they are a compact yet sturdy breed. Temperamentally, Miniature Poodles are known for their high intelligence, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They are generally lively, affectionate, and can be quite playful, thriving on interaction with their families. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. They are often excellent with children and other pets when properly socialized. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of breed-specific concerns such as progressive retinal atrophy, luxating patella, and Addison's disease. With their captivating looks and bright minds, the Miniature Poodle makes a delightful and devoted family member.
