She may be a little shy and cautious at first, but once she feels safe, her affectionate side starts to shine. She loves cuddling on the couch, rolling around on the bed, and simply being close to her people. Licorice gets along well with other dogs and is very eager to make friends—sometimes a little too eager! She can be enthusiastic and in their space, so a patient canine companion who doesn't mind showing her the ropes could be a great match. She is currently a quiet, low-key girl and hasn't been much of a barker in her foster home. Licorice is housetrained and working on crate training. She doesn't love going into her crate yet, but once she's settled in, she calms down after a little soft protesting. Like any puppy, Licorice does like to chew! Licorice will do best with a patient, understanding family who will give her the time and reassurance she needs to build confidence and come out of her shell. Her activity level is currently on the lower side, although we expect we may see more of her playful puppy personality as she becomes comfortable in her new home. Licorice is looking for someone who will give her a little time, a lot of love, and a safe place to blossom. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $350. A refundable training deposit of $100 will be also due upon adoption. Training must be provided in a timely fashion to ensure our pups become the best canine citizens. The training deposit will be refundable within 3 months of the adoption date. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
