Description
Dog Breed: Corgi. Meet Woogie! Woogie is a cuddly, smart, good boy who’s 8 years old. He is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and around 28 pounds. Woogie is good on the leash, treat motivated and sleeps in a dog bed at night. He is crate trained, but definitely prefers to be close to his people. When he first arrives in a new environment he can be a bit shy, but within hours he warms up and is his happy self. Woogie is a good listener and knows sit, lay down, stay and kennel. Like a typical corgi, he can be a bit of a barker, but settles with direction, but would likely not be a good fit for an apartment situation. He gets stressed out at the vet and will require anti-anxiety medicine and a muzzle when he has appointments. In his previous home, he was good with small children with constant supervision, but older kids are recommended. He has not been tested with cats. Woogie was recently neutered and has stopped marking in his foster home. We recommend using a belly band as he acclimates to a new place to avoid any accidents. Woogie is friendly with other dogs, but can sometimes be over zealous. We anticipate this will calm down too now that he’s neutered. If you’re interested in meeting Woogie, the first step is to complete the meet and greet application at .corgisandfriends/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Woogie is utd on vax, chipped, and HW-. His adoption fee is $400 and we don’t adopt outside of Colorado.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
