Raj is very sweet and can be very active Raj is very sweet and can be very active when he first wakes up or goes out in the yard, but he will also calm down and sit quietly or go to sleep for stretches. Raj is more timid than his confident brother Marcus but is coming out of his shell in a loving foster home. Raj follows his brother's lead but is more laid back. He loves to be held! Raj is working on his housetraining but currently sleeping through the night after a 10:30pm potty break and then up at 6am for another one! Raj Mathai and his brother were transferred to Valley Humane on 7/28 from the East County Animal Shelter. They had been found stray. Marcus weighs 10.9 pounds. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
