Norah – Yellow Female, 6 months old, 40 lbs. Meet Norah—40 pounds of adorable! Norah came to us with her two sisters and brother as strays from a rural shelter. Norah and her siblings arrived skin and bones and, understandably, a little unsure of humans. It didn’t take long, though, for this sweet girl to settle in, learn that people can be trusted, and start showing her foster family her happy puppy personality. Norah is fully potty trained and uses the doggy door like a pro. She’s still working on her leash skills, but in every other respect, she’s a pretty typical 6-month-old puppy—with just a touch of shyness still hanging around. She loves playing with her brother and foster siblings, enjoys splashing around in the water, and thinks checking out all the toys is a pretty good way to spend her day. Norah has not been around children or cats in her foster home, so we don’t know how she would do with either. As with any young dog, proper introductions, supervision, patience, and time to adjust are important. And now for the really important rating… On the Richter Scale of Puppy, Norah comes in at about a 3.5. She definitely has her puppy moments, but she’s also a girl who appreciates a good nap. So, you get some puppy fun without being hit by a full-blown puppy earthquake! Norah is still learning about the world and would love a family willing to give her the patience, guidance, and confidence she needs to continue blossoming. If Norah sounds like she might fit right in with your family, please fill out an adoption application at .labrescuefresno. Norah is ready to find her forever family! Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
