Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Meet Marta, Marta is an energetic girl who has a lot of energy to burn! She enjoys lots of play time especially with her dog friends! She is still a puppy and has a lot to learn. She would benefit from positive reinforcement training as she is still a puppy and has not quite yet figured out hands are not toys. She needs some help working on her basic manners such as walking on leash, possibly crate training, house training and how to self regulate as she just wants to play all the time! She is a very food motivated and toy motivated girl who is too smart for her own good and learns quickly. She has taken to clicker training quickly and this will be a good tool for any future family. We all love Marta's funny personality and you will too! Marta is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY however, we are unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
