Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). MEET NOVA Novaâs story should not end at a shelter. Nova is a sweet 7 year old girl who came to us as a stray, and while we may never know exactly what her life looked like before arriving here, we can tell she has been someoneâs dog before. She appears to be housebroken and has been absolutely wonderful with everyone she has met at the shelter.Nova has a youthful spirit and plenty of pep in her step for a girl her age. She does need some TLC and someone willing to give her the patience, love, and comfort she deserves. In return, youâll have a loyal companion who is just happy to be around people and receive some affection.Because Nova came to us as a stray, we do not know how she feels about other dogs, cats, or children at this time. Those introductions would need to be handled appropriately with any potential adopters.Nova is entering her senior years, and she has already spent enough time wondering what comes next. She shouldnât have to spend her golden years in a kennel, waiting for someone to notice her.She deserves a soft bed. She deserves a family. She deserves to know what it feels like to be home again.Could you be the person who gives Nova the second chance sheâs been waiting for?

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
