Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Hound / Mixed. These active puppies are simply adorable! There are five boys and one girl, and they are all ready to find loving homes where they can grow, learn, and become the best dogs they can be. Like all puppies, they will need plenty of love, patience, training, and guidance as they grow. They are mixed-breed puppies, so their adult size is unknown. Their mom is a terrier/hound mix and weighs about 21 pounds, which may give you some idea of their potential size, but there are no guarantees. These little ones are both active and fun, and they have been around older children. A home with a securely fenced yard is preferred so they have plenty of room to play and explore. The puppies are currently in a foster home, so they do not attend regular adoption events. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
