Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 375. ♥️ Meet Cami! ♥️ Beautiful little Cami is one of Caramel’s 10 precious babies and part of our C Litter. Her story began before she ever had a chance to know what safety felt like. Her mama, Caramel, was abandoned at a Dallas apartment complex when her family moved away, leaving her behind to give birth and care for her newborn puppies in the brutal Texas heat. When help finally reached them, Caramel was extremely thin and exhausted from giving everything she had to keep her babies alive. Thankfully, this little family is now safe, surrounded by love and getting all the care they deserve. Cami is now 3 weeks old, healthy and growing stronger every day. She’s still just a tiny baby, spending most of her time eating, sleeping and beginning to discover the world around her. We’re excited to watch this sweet little girl grow and see her personality begin to shine. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
