The application is the first step in the adoption process, so if you are interested in adopting please fill out the online adoption application first by visiting our website at .dachshundpaws Aria is a beautiful 6-year-old red long-haired Mini Dachshund weighs just 11 pounds and is as sweet as they come. Aria is a quiet, loving little girl who adores being held and snuggled. She can be a little timid when she first meets someone, but it doesn’t take long for her sweet personality to shine through. Once she warms up, she is incredibly affectionate and loving. She does well with kids and other dogs. We don’t know yet how she feels about cats. Aria would love a quiet, peaceful home where she can feel safe, loved, and spoiled. A gentle sibling around her size could be a wonderful match for her, too. If you’re looking for a sweet little companion who will happily curl up in your arms and give you all the love in her heart, Aria may be your girl! Aria’s adoption fee: $600 We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found. Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets. Regarding health, their unique body shape predisposes them to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so careful handling and weight management are crucial.
