Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). NJ Ozzy is currently in a foster home in Monmouth County, NJ. Ozzy is a 6-year-old, 45-pound lab mix who came to us through our owner surrender program. His mom recently passed away, leaving him alone and without the only home he has ever known. Ozzy was a calm, gentle, and loyal companion to an older woman his whole life. As a pup, he lived with a cat, and he is friendly, calm, and appropriate with every dog he has met. In his foster home, he lives with a canine pal and they get along wonderfully. Ozzy was in a boarding program for two weeks while he waited for a foster home to open up, where he was adored by all and was a staff favorite. Ozzy is wonderful with meeting new people (he may occasionally howl with happiness), and though he has not lived with children before, with his gentle and even-tempered nature, we expect he would be just fine with them too! This sweet boy is great on leash (no pulling and no reactivity!), good in the car, well-behaved at the vet, and doesn't mind baths or nail trimming! What more could you ask for? He is fully house-trained, familiar with some basic commands, and he is not destructive when left alone in the home, unsupervised. Ozzy loves his squeaky toys and enjoys playing fetch. He bonds quickly with his person and will quietly follow you room to room like a shadow. He likes his walks and getting out to stretch his legs, but is just as content to curl up and relax on the couch. In short, Ozzy is proving to be a low-maintenance, gentle boy who would fit into most homes. Give him a little time, patience, and love, and in turn he will give you his whole heart! Ozzy is fixed, is micro-chipped and is up to date on vaccines. He tested negative for heartworm. His adoption donation is $500. Adopting an animal is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these animals have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
