Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Valerie! Valerie did all she could to keep her and her 7 puppies alive while they were left to fend for themselves under a camper in a junkyard. From defensive and scared, to now cuddly and full of life, Val shows her foster family daily how much potential she has and how much she wants to be loved. Val is good with other dogs but would do best in a home with no cats. Although she can be shy at first meeting, Val is fiercely loyal to the people she feels safest with and may act aloof to everyone else for a while. She loves to give kisses and lean against your legs for belly scratches. If you have an extra comfy dog bed, you will find Val snoozing in the sun there for hours. She is the best girl! She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and current with all vaccines (as appropriate for her age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Valerie is currently being fostered in South Carolina. ADOPT VALERIE!! .LuckyPupRescueSC The adoption fee is $375.00 and we require a vet check and home visit.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
