Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). #A5791946 Meet Bonnie , a 1-year-old Boxer girl who is an absolute sweet squish with a soft cream coat, the faintest little speckles, and the most perfectly smushable wrinkly snoot! This darling love muffin isn’t too interested in treats, but she’ll happily jump up, lean in close, and smother you in kisses instead. Bonnie came to the shelter with her brother Clyde (#A5791945) after their owners moved and sadly left them behind, but she’s ready to leave that heartbreak behind and start fresh with a forever family of her own. Despite everything she’s been through, Bonnie greets the world with a megawatt grin and a tail that simply refuses to stop wagging! She’s a dream to handle already, and with a little guidance on all the puppy basics, she should quickly blossom into a happy, confident, well-mannered companion. Take a chance on this joyful little lovebug, and you’ll be rewarded with a lifetime of smiles, wiggles, and Boxer kisses! -1 year 1 month old white Boxer -54 pound spayed female -may need the standard round of shots and preventatives before she can go home with you, but the shelter can likely help with this! -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 7/2/8/26 as an owner surrender when her old family moved - was surrendered with her brother Clyde (#A5791945) -can be adopted separately from her brother, but they are very bonded and super happy together, so we would love to see them adopted together if possible! -heart of gold - super sweet and affectionate, loves to jump up for all the kisses! -good on leash, potty trained, and good with other dogs, especially calm dogs around her size -could benefit from all the puppy basics, but is smart and eager to please, so should learn quickly! Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
