Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever. Many of you have been following Gabby’s story, from discovering her gallbladder stones to undergoing surgery and beginning her recovery. Now we want to share a little more about the amazing girl behind all those updates. Gabby came to PAR after her previous owner passed away. She’s been through a lot of change, but her loving spirit hasn’t changed. This sweet senior girl is ready to find a family who will give her all the love, care and security she deserves for the rest of her life. Her foster describes her simply as “absolutely amazing.” Gabby is loving, happy, affectionate and incredibly easygoing. She loves everyone she meets, although she seems to have an extra special place in her heart for men. She loves both giving and receiving affection and would happily sleep right beside her person every night if given the chance. Gabby is fully potty-trained, non-destructive and does wonderfully with other dogs. She takes social cues well and is confident exploring her surroundings, sometimes finding her own quiet little spot to relax. She’s generally a quiet girl, but if someone comes around who she thinks you should know about, she’ll make sure you’re aware. One thing we’ve learned about Gabby is that she LOVES the water. Shortly after arriving at her foster home, she discovered the tanning shelf in the pool, walked right in, laid down and made herself completely at home. Apparently Gabby believes a pool is just an oversized dog bed with water. Gabby is still recovering from her gallbladder surgery, but once she’s fully healed, her foster thinks she would love long walks, little adventures and plenty of time relaxing with her people. Gabby does have some ongoing needs. She has allergies that require medication, and she will likely need to remain on a prescription urinary-care diet long term. Her future family will need to be prepared for those additional expenses and committed to continuing the care she needs. But what Gabby gives in return is pretty special. She is sweet, loving, easygoing and simply happy to be near her people. Gabby has already experienced loss, major surgery, and plenty of change. Now she deserves the simple, joyful chapter, someone to love her, a soft bed to rest in, maybe a pool to lounge by, and a family who will cherish her through all the wonderful years ahead. We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home. Please only apply if you are serious about adopting. Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine. The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match.
