Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Teddy is a 5âyearâold heeler mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for his people. He is fully crate trained, house trained, and thrives on affection, cuddles and hugs are absolutely his love language. Teddy knows basic commands like sit and stay and is eager to learn more. He's friendly and social with people but would do best as the only dog in the home. He's a happy, enthusiastic guy who still gets excited and may jump, so he's better suited for homes with older children. Teddy is leash trained and enjoys going for walks, exploring, and spending time with his humans. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to be your best friend, Teddy is ready to fill that role beautifully. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (.dfwrescueme) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Teddy is participating in the DFW Rescue Me guest dog program, ongoing care and custody is provided by her foster, not by DFWRM.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
