Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). #A5791945 Meet Clyde , a 1-year-old Boxer boy who is basically a big, handsome squish wrapped in a soft cream coat with the faintest little speckles! Those enormous smooshy jowls practically demand kisses, and Clyde is more than happy to oblige - he’s a total lovebug who would much rather plop into your lap, press close, and shower you with affection than worry about treats. Clyde came to the shelter with his sister Bonnie (#A5791946) after their owners moved and sadly left them behind, but this sweet boy is ready to turn the page and start fresh with a forever family of his own. Like any young pup, he’d benefit from brushing up on all the puppy basics, but he’s already incredibly easy to handle and eager to please, so he should catch on quickly. Give him a little structure, patience, and love, and Clyde will grow into the happy, confident companion he was always meant to be. Take a chance on this adorable cuddlebug, and we’re pretty sure you’ll wonder how you ever lived without him! -1 year 1 month old white Boxer -61 pound neutered male -may need the standard round of shots and preventatives before he can go home with you, but the shelter can likely help with this! -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 7/2/8/26 as an owner surrender when his old family moved - was surrendered with his sister Bonnie (#A5791946) -can be adopted separately from his sister, but they are very bonded and super happy together, so we would love to see them adopted together if possible! -huge heart - super sweet and affectionate, gets along with everyone! -good on leash, potty trained, and good with other dogs, especially calm dogs around his size -could benefit from all the puppy basics, but is smart and eager to please, so should learn quickly! Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
