Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. Meet Sassy! Your future favorite lap dog! Sassy is a 13-pound, 1½-year-old Chihuahua mix with the cutest long body and short little legs—making us suspect there may be a little Dachshund in the mix, too! She has the sweetest heart and just wants to be close to her person. Sassy spent the first 1½ years of her life in a home where she had very little opportunity to experience the outside world. When she came into rescue, she wasn't house-trained and was understandably unsure about a lot of new things. However she has been blossoming in her foster home, and she's doing great with her house training! She's learning that the world isn't so scary—and once she gets comfortable, she's ready to be your very best friend. Sassy may need a day or so to warm up, but once she decides you're her person, you've got a little shadow for life. Whether you're on the couch, working at your desk, or just sitting outside, Sassy's favorite place is right in your lap. She absolutely loves to snuggle and wants nothing more than to be near her people. She's wonderful with other dogs and would love a small, confident canine friend to help her continue building her confidence. She's not currently fostered with cats, but she previously lived with them, and her brother is doing well with cats in his foster home. Sassy isn't a huge fan of the crate—she'd much rather be snuggled beside you, thank you very much! Sassy has come such a long way, and now she's ready for the next chapter: a forever family who will give her the patience to warm up, the love she deserves, and plenty of lap time.
