Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. Meet Sassy, your future favorite lap dog! This adorable 13-pound, 1½-year-old Chihuahua mix has the cutest long body and short little legs, making us think she may have some Dachshund mixed in, too. Sassy came to us as an owner surrender along with two of her siblings. For her entire first 1½ years, she lived in a home where she was said to have never been outside.She wasn't house-trained and didn't get the socialization, attention, or opportunities to experience the world that she needed. She will need continued support on house training. But Sassy is discovering that the world isn't so scary—and she's doing amazing. After just a short time in rescue, she's already come out of her shell. These days, it doesn't matter whether you're sitting on the couch, working at your desk, or sitting on the ground outside—Sassy's answer is the same: straight into your lap! She wants to be wherever her person is. Sassy isn't a big fan of the crate because, in her opinion, why would she be in a crate when she could be snuggled up next to you? She's wonderful with other dogs and would do best with another small, confident dog who can help show her the ropes and continue building her confidence. She's not currently fostered with cats, but she previously lived with them, and her brother is doing well with cats in his foster home. Sassy has experienced a lot of change in her short life, so she's looking for someone who understands that confidence takes time. She needs a patient, loving person who will let her blossom at her own pace, plus a small canine friend she can learn from. In return, you'll get the sweetest little shadow—a tiny girl who wants nothing more than to be close to her person and a smart, loving pup who is finally discovering just how wonderful life can be.
