Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. About Me Hi friends! My name is Ref Lentil, and I’m ready to find a family of my very own!! I may be just a little guy, but I have a BIG personality! My foster Momma says I’m SO much fun! I absolutely LOVE other dogs, especially the playful ones, and I’m good with kitties, too! She also says getting a non-blurry picture of me is nearly impossible because I’m constantly on the move! I’ve got places to go and things to investigate! Now, I’ll be honest… I’m not a huge fan of kennel training. BUT I don’t chew things up or get into anything I shouldn’t. I’m a VERY good boy—I just prefer being out and about with my people! I joined The Rescue Crew after ending up at a local impound and my family never came for me. I know they must have loved me because I arrived in really wonderful physical condition. My coat is gorgeous, clean, shiny, and smells SO good! I’m also friendly, happy, and ready to meet everyone I can! Whatever happened before, I’m ready to look forward—not backward. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
