Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Hunter, a charming 6-year-old male Pit who is ready to find his forever home! Hunter is a moderately energetic dog with a curious and independent spirit. While he may be a bit shy and hesitant around new people, he shows great potential to blossom with the right guidance and patience. Hunter walks excellently on a leash and is very well potty trained, making outdoor adventures enjoyable and stress-free. Although he currently needs some training to come when called and to improve his interactions with humans, his thoughtful and reserved nature means he will thrive in a calm and understanding environment. This sweet boy enjoys exploring and playing with toys, and with consistent positive reinforcement, he can gain confidence and become a loving companion. Hunter would do best in a home where his independent personality is respected, and where he can receive gentle encouragement to build trust. If youâre looking for a loyal friend who will reward your patience with quiet affection and curiosity, Hunter might just be the perfect match. Come meet Hunter and help him take the next step toward a happy, secure life! City of Tulsa Animal Welfare Tuesday through Friday, noon to 6pm Saturday, noon to 4pm 918-669-6280

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
