Description
Dog Breed: Boston Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). **Hazel, a small mixed-breed female ** Hazel and her daughter Lily were taken out of a crowded shelter so that they would not be put down. Hazel is a mixed breed, and we believe that mix containes Boston terrier, dachshund and Jack Russell. The two girls had arrived in a weak and very tired condition due to the traumas they had gone through. Hazel is about three years old and, although her early life has been difficult, she enjoys attention and being loved. While Hazel has shown remarkable resilience, she can sometimes be cautious in new situations and may need a little extra reassurance at first. She is lively while remaining calm. She is intelligent and would like to know what you are saying to her. Hazel is a dog who would readily learn to use talking buttons and frequently communicate with you. She enjoys being spoken to and listens carefully, as if she understands every word. With patience, she performs well and is eager to learn. Hazel also has a fondness for her squeaky toys. Since she has a strong prey drive, she should live in a home without cats or small animals. Hazel is able to walk on a lead and picks up the trick quickly. Hazel would do best as the only dog in the home or with her daughter Lily, whom she absolutely adores. She may be cautious with unfamiliar dogs due to her past experiences. She is gentle and affectionate with people and is suitable for homes with older children who respect her space. Hazel is a cuddly dog and enjoys going under the blankets to be near you at night. It's likely that someone once loved her, since she is social, well-behaved, and affectionate toward people. Because Hazel has been attacked by dogs in the past, she is careful about whom she befriends. When meeting unfamiliar dogs, Hazel can be cautious and may initially keep her distance. She appreciates slow, gentle introductions and tends to do best with calm dogs who respect her space. Over time and with patience, she can warm up and feel more comfortable around friendly dogs. Hazel loves her daughter Lily. If you are looking for two dogs, they get along very well together. Hazel's adoption fee is $450.00. They have a bonded pair adoption fee of only $595.00 to encourage an adopter to keep the girls together. She has had her vaccinations up to date, is fed human-grade dog food appropriate for dogs, and is in good health. Hazel is scheduled to be spayed before she goes to her new home, and we will ensure the appointment is completed as part of the adoption process. If you would like to adopt this nice girl, please complete an application on our website at .smallpupsrescue. Once we receive your application, a member of our staff will contact you within 2-3 days to discuss Hazel and answer any questions you may have. Next, we will arrange a virtual or face-to-face home visit within a week to ensure it is a good match for both you and Hazel. After a successful home visit, we will notify you within 2 days so you can move forward with the adoption. At this stage, we will help you complete the final paperwork and arrange a convenient day for Hazel to join your family, usually within a week of approval. Our goal is to make the process smooth and supportive, typically taking between 1-2 weeks from application to adoption. Thank you for considering giving Hazel a loving home.

Breed overview
Overview:
The "Bo-Dach," an engaging crossbreed originating from the United States, combines the spirited nature of the Boston Terrier with the distinctive charm of the Dachshund. Physically, they are typically small to medium-sized dogs, often inheriting the Dachshund's elongated body and short legs, with a smooth, short coat that can come in a variety of colors, reflecting both parent breeds. Their heads tend to be more Boston Terrier-like, sometimes with the endearing "bow-legged" stance of a Dachshund. In terms of temperament, Bo-Dachs are generally affectionate, intelligent, and often possess a playful streak. They can be good with families, though early socialization is key to ensure they get along well with children and other pets. Their moderate exercise needs make them adaptable to apartment living, provided they receive regular walks and mental stimulation. Owners should be aware of potential health considerations common to their parent breeds, such as intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) due to their long backs, and patellar luxation, so regular veterinary check-ups are important for a long and healthy life.
