Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Terrier / Mixed. Rose is one amazing girl! She is a survivor and a great mama dog, too. She was found on someone’s porch, emaciated with a pup that was still nursing. Luckily, they were taken to a shelter and then placed in a foster home. At first, she was very scared and timid. But after a month with her foster mom, she has blossomed! Today, at age 2 years 2 months, she weighs 55 pounds! Rose is an Australian Cattle/Blue Heeler mix. Her white and black short coat looks so healthy. Note her symmetrical features on her face. Australian Cattle dog mixes are known to be very smart, eager to please, and friendly. They have great personalities and are loving family-oriented dogs. They are known for their agility, loyalty, and responses to positive reinforcement, especially when connected to treats. They just want to be with their loved ones. She would do best in a household where she could go hiking, running, or play games of fetch. She, like all dogs, will need mental and physical stimulation to prevent boredom. A fenced in yard to burn off energy would be a positive. Rose started off very shy when first rescued. It took time and patience to have her come out of her shell. She is still on the shy side but with more time and patience from her family, she will shine like the star that she is. She is comfortable with kids and dogs but has not been introduced to a cat since coming into rescue. She is currently learning her crate and leash training. Daily walks will support leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to her with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along her walk. It is important to remember that although Rose is housetrained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment.
