Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. UPDATE FOSTER FOUND IN NEED OF LOCAL FOSTER OR ADOPTER / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT Meet Vega! More pictures and video below or to come! Vega is approx. 6 years old (approx. DOB 6-3-20), female, 49 lbs., vetted, and is or will be spayed. Posting Vega is very emotional for us. We were supposed to post Vega and her BFF, Radar, who came into the shelter together, after being found as abandoned, homeless stray pups that no one came looking for. When separated at the shelter, they were distraught and cried for each other. Their last day came, their time was up, and we couldn't let that happen. We saved them both, together. When they were reunited to leave the shelter, they were so excited and cried with joy We were so busy; we didn't have a chance to post their heartwarming story. We allowed them to stay together in boarding. Radar started showing symptoms of being ill, so we got him to the vet for treatment and meds. He started to get better. Then the unthinkable happened… he passed away in his room, alone. No one was there. Vega was being kept mostly separate to ensure something wasn't contagious, but started visiting her BFF daily as he got better. Our hearts are in shock and broken, but now we need to focus on Vega and finding her a loving home. Rest in peace, sweet handsome Radar. We love you. Stay tuned for more information as Vega is a new rescue! If you are interested in adopting Vega, please fill out an Application at .Passion-4-Paws (please make sure you have the Vermont site not CT) - thanks! Please note that Fosters have 1st option for adoption. Check out her Facebook Profile and like us while you are there! Disclosure: Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue. Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance! Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed. Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
