Dog Breed: Dalmatian (short coat). Online Adoption Application › Chief is a good boy that was owner surrendered to us because they are having a baby. chief is house trained and crate trained (thought its said he does not need it). He has done well with the kiddos in his foster home but definitely needs older kiddos that know to respect him and his space when needed! He will take some time to settle into any new environment, huge changes have happened for this poor guy. Chief is a typical Dalmation-- he can seem aloof and is not a dog that is really into cuddling. He really likes walks and is as of yet unsure of other dogs. He is reportedly scared of cats.

Physically, they are well-muscled and athletic, with a graceful, symmetrical build and an alert expression. Temperamentally, Dalmatians are known for being outgoing, intelligent, and highly energetic, requiring significant daily exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. While generally good with children and suitable for active families, their playful exuberance might be overwhelming for very young kids, and their exercise needs make them less ideal for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Health-wise, the breed is notably predisposed to deafness (affecting a significant percentage) and urinary stone formation, necessitating careful breeding and veterinary monitoring.
