Description
Dog Breed: Maltese / Lhasa Apso (long coat). Molly was born about August 18, 2023 and weighs about 20 pounds . A long time volunteer of Joyful Rescues stopped by CBAS (City of Buffalo Animal Shelter) and saw this cutie while she was there picking up another dog that was being transferred to us. We feel honored to be chosen to help these two girls move on to their futures. Molly is wonderful with other dogs but is not a player with dogs. She is devoted to her humans (both male and female) and follows them everywhere! She is a major cuddler and sleeps nicely through the night. Molly landed at the shelter because her owner passed away and there was nowhere else for her to go. Molly rides good in the car, we aren't sure about leash yet as it seems we've been carrying her everywhere! She is very portable! She was fine for her bath and the trimmer, not thrilled about it, but accepted the process. With a proper haircut this girl is going to be GORGEOUS! So far, it appears she may be house trained, but we like to mention that often these small dogs benefit from a potty floor pad being handy. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_500.00_. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. Overview:
The elegant Maltese is a delightful toy breed renowned for its captivating beauty and charming personality. Originating from the island of Malta, these ancient dogs were once favored companions of European nobility. Physically, they are characterized by their single coat of long, silky, pure white hair that gracefully drapes over a compact, well-proportioned body, typically weighing between 4-7 pounds. Their expressive dark eyes and black button nose add to their adorable appeal. Temperamentally, Maltese are known for being affectionate, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They thrive on human companionship and are generally excellent with children and other pets, provided they are socialized early. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them ideal for apartment living and suitable for families of all types, including first-time dog owners. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of common breed-specific concerns such as dental issues and luxating patellas.
