Dog Breed: Corgi / Mixed. Meet Peejay! Peejay is a 15-lb Corgi mix with a heart much bigger than his little body. His love language is physical touch, and he is happiest when he’s being pet, cuddled, or nuzzling his little face into your neck. This sweet boy is a total shadow, following his foster mom from room to room with his tail wagging nonstop. He is simply the happiest little guy and has been the best boy in his foster home! He sleeps through the night in his crate, takes care of business right away when he goes outside, and has been an absolute gentleman with his older foster fur-sister. Peejay enjoys short walks, although he may occasionally request to be carried for a bit so his tiny legs can take a quick break! He loves treats and is currently working on learning how to sit. If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate little shadow who just wants to love you with his whole heart, Peejay may be your guy! This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
