Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. Well, hello there! I noticed you were looking at my picture and thinking to yourself, “what a handsome little guy!” While I’m a cutie on the outside, it’s my personality that really shines through. To get to know each other, let me first tell you about myself. My name is Jackson, and they tell me I’m a beagle. I was raised my entire life with my sister by a loving couple who cared for me, took me for walks and gave me lots of belly rubs. I was so happy. But I was told that both of them crossed the rainbow bridge without me. I was heartbroken. Their children felt it would be better if I found a new home where I could be loved just as much. Happy to say my sister found her forever home with the neighbor of my previous owners! How about that? I went to a foster home with four other dogs. The best part is I love playing and sharing everything with them. My foster dad has come to name me “Action Jackson” since I love playing and chasing squirrels in the backyard. I’m also known to sing especially around dinnertime. I’m very loyal and loving. I enjoy going to the dog park and taking walks along the greenway. I get along with everybody I meet. Somebody asked if I liked cats, and never having met one I can’t say that I know or not. If you’re looking for a young dog you can grow up with and grow old with, I’m your guy. Just give me a chance, I promise I’ll steal your heart, but I also promise I’ll take good care of it. Applications can be filled out at .piedmontanimalrescue/adopt! Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
