Description
Dog Breed: Poodle (Miniature) / Maltese / Mixed. This pup will be available to meet starting on 8/29 Meet Stackz — a happy, playful boy who is more than ready to leave his past behind and discover just how good life can be. Stackz was found living in a cage in the back of a truck, covered in his own filth. It’s hard to imagine what his life looked like before he was rescued, but you certainly wouldn’t know it from meeting him. Despite everything, Stackz is an absolute sweetheart who seems to believe that every human he meets is simply a new friend he hasn’t gotten to love yet. This energetic guy LOVES going for walks and has places to be! Stackz is a fast walker and can pull when he gets overly excited—especially if a squirrel makes the questionable decision to cross his path. He can also be vocal when he sees other dogs on walks. Whether that’s excitement, frustration, or something else, his future family should be prepared to continue working with him on calm leash manners and introductions rather than assuming every bark means he wants to make a new canine bestie. At home, though, Stackz has been living peacefully with cats! He’s even happy to share the bed with them, sleeping through the night snuggled up with his foster and his feline roommates. And speaking of bedtime… Stackz has a very important nightly ritual: TOYS. This boy absolutely adores plushies and squeaky toys and apparently believes that if one toy belongs on the bed, ALL the toys belong on the bed. Expect to wake up surrounded by a small stuffed-animal collection. Stackz is playful, energetic, excitable, affectionate, and always ready to be part of whatever his people are doing. He has a great appetite and isn’t a picky eater. He’s also doing well with potty habits, although he does sometimes try to mark indoors, so his new family will need to continue reinforcing good house manners. After a beginning where he had so little, Stackz is thoroughly enjoying having walks to take, toys to squeak, cats to sleep beside, good food in his belly, and people who treat him with kindness. Now he just needs the one thing he’s been missing: a family of his very own. They were rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Stackz has tested positive for Heartworm. Treatment will be covered by the rescue at one of our partner vets. Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances. Breed overview
Overview:
The Maltipoo, a delightful crossbreed, emerges from the charming combination of a Maltese and a Miniature Poodle, offering a compact and affectionate companion. Originating in the United States, this "designer dog" was selectively bred for its desirable traits, particularly its low-shedding coat and amiable disposition. Physically, Maltipoos typically weigh between 5-20 pounds, sporting a soft, wavy to curly coat that comes in various colors, most commonly white, cream, or apricot. Their temperament is a major draw: they are known for being intelligent, playful, and incredibly loving, often forming strong bonds with their families. This makes them highly suitable for both families with children and apartment living, provided they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation. While generally healthy, potential health considerations can include patellar luxation, progressive retinal atrophy, and white shaker syndrome, inherited from their parent breeds. With proper care and attention, a Maltipoo can be a joyful and long-lived member of any household.
