Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Available for Adoption — Meet Roger! Roger is a wonderful boy with a kind, gentle, and loving personality. He has an easygoing temperament, is eager to please, incredibly smart, and catches on quickly. This happy, social pup loves everyone he meets and makes friends wherever he goes! He’s already learning his basic skills and has mastered sit, down, off, and leave it. One important part of Roger’s story: he lived outdoors for most of his life, but he has acclimated to indoor life amazingly well! He is currently 90% crate trained and 85% potty trained, and he’s continuing to learn his leash skills. Roger is also: Great with kids, great with cats, great with other dogs, smart and eager to learn, loving, friendly, and social. Roger has so much love to give and is ready for a family who will continue helping him learn and thrive. Could you be his forever family? He has had 2 vet visits, is spayed/neutered, Microchipped, UTD on all vaccinations, had a 4 DX test (testing for Lyme disease and two types of tick-borne illnesses), flea/tick/heartworm prevention (Nexgard Plus), 2 dewormings, and a 1 fecal test. Adopters will receive all original paperwork, a 14-day health guarantee, a collar, harness, leash, seatbelt lock, and a week's worth of food. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are by appointment only. We are located in Mesa, AZ., near Gilbert/Brown & offer flexible hours 7 days a week. Private message if interested!

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
