Description
Dog Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $150. Hi friends! My name is Kesha through the rescue, but I respond really well to LoLa I’m a 10 year old, 40-pound Pit Bull mix, and I know that “10 years old” might scare some people away… but I promise you, that age is just a number to me! I still have SO much life, happiness, and love to give. I LOVE people! Honestly, my favorite place in the whole world is right next to my person. Did someone say cuddles?! Because I’m always ready for them! I just want to be close to my humans and soak up all the love I can get. I also LOVE toys, especially the ones that SQUEAK! If it squeaks, I’m probably going to be obsessed with it. Car rides? YES PLEASE! Walks? EVEN BETTER! But please don’t pull out a leash unless you’re 100% planning on taking me because I get SO excited when I see one! I know exactly what that leash means and I’m an amazing walker once we’re out and about. I am also quite possibly the happiest girl you’ll ever meet! I get the zoomies at least twice a day… although my foster family would probably argue it’s more like three times. Tell me how cute I am? ZOOMIES! You come home from work? ZOOMIES! My human wakes up in the morning? ZOOMIES! I just have so much happiness to share! And guess what? I’m a social girl! I get along great with dogs of all ages and sizes, so I’d be happy to have some furry friends or would be just fine being the only child. I’m also fully potty trained and crate trained, although I don’t really need my crate. I can be left loose in the house for hours and I’ll be a good girl. I’m a pretty smart girl, too! I already know sit, lay down, and shake. I’m always happy to show off my tricks especially if there’s a treat involved! So, if you’re looking at my age and thinking I’m “too old,” I hope you’ll look a little closer. I may have a few more years under my belt, but I have a young at heart personality, a happy little zoomie button, and SO much love left to give. All I’m looking for is someone who will let me spend my golden years doing what I love most: being loved, going on walks, squeaky-toy hunting, showing off my tricks, and cuddling my people. apply to meet at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview
Overview:
The Boxerhoula is a captivating crossbreed resulting from the union of a Boxer and a Catahoula Leopard Dog. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parents, these dogs typically possess a striking appearance, often showcasing the Catahoula's unique merle coat patterns or the Boxer's fawn and brindle. Physically, they are medium to large, muscular dogs, with an athletic build and expressive eyes. Temperamentally, Boxerhoulas are known for being intelligent, loyal, and energetic. They tend to be protective of their families, making them excellent watchdogs, but require consistent training and socialization from a young age due to their strong prey drive and potential for stubbornness. While affectionate with their families, their high energy levels and need for ample exercise make them less suitable for apartment living; a home with a yard and an active lifestyle is ideal. Potential health concerns include those common to their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, certain cancers, and deafness, particularly in merle individuals.
