Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Farley is such a happy dog who has the kindest & gentlest soul. He had a rough start in life in Arkansas, but you wouldn’t know it by the way he fully trusts and loves his humans. Farley is fully potty trained and hasn’t had any accidents in the house since he arrived. He enjoys running and playing in the yard with his foster sister or engaging in a gentle game of tug or keep-away with her. He is a loving and kind soul who loves cuddles and pets from his humans, playing with toys, and exploring the yard. He is crate trained and is happy to sleep in it overnight or when his family is away; however, he is such a good boy that he doesn’t get into anything when he is out and left alone. He's a low-maintenance dog who does just fine all day sleeping while his parents are at work. He gets along great with other dogs, but would also be fine being the only dog in the house. He just really loves ear scratches and pets from his humans. His foster family doesn’t have cats, so unsure how he’d be with them, but he doesn’t seem to have a high prey drive. Farley is a medium-energy dog. He loves to play in the yard, but also enjoys a good nap in his dog bed or crate. He will walk on a leash, but is still learning how to heel and not pull. He rides well in the car, too. He is a very loving, gentle soul and would make a great addition to a family with some extra love to give. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $550.00

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
