Are you ready for a cuddly companion who would love to relax at home or accompany her family on adventures; either option is great, as long as she is close to the ones she loves and feels safe with. Honey is an estimated two to three-year-old mixed breed found as a stray in the south who is now in Harrisburg, PA searching for her forever home. About Honey: Personality: Playful, gentle, quiet, timid, affectionate, submissive, crate-trained Size: small, ~15 lbs. Favorite Activities: Cuddling, car rides, and relaxing near her people and furry friends. Good with: cats, mature kids, and dogs; especially her co-pilot, adoptable Winnie. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
