Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed (short coat). Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications. You must come to the shelter in person to meet the PAHS pets. Shelby is a 5-month-old female Belgian Malinois mix who was found as a stray and has no known owner. She has a striking brindle coat, a beautiful face with large ears, and a distinctive black muzzle. Weighing only 14 pounds, Shelby is expected to grow into a medium-sized adult dog. She is playful, energetic, and gets along well with other dogs. Shelby would also do well in a home with children. If you’re looking for a loving and intelligent companion, come meet Shelby! Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative. *****Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
