Our Batgirl is no stranger to the spotlight as she is always ready for attention. Batgirl is a one-year-old terrier mix weighing around 43 pounds. She is sweet and loving and her facial markings along with her adorable semi stand up ears just complete the picture of cuteness. Batgirl is nothing if not friendly. She enjoys the company of other dogs and children of all ages. She has not been introduced to a cat since coming into rescue, so her acceptance of a cat remains unknown at this time. We do know that she is ready to hit the road showing off her grace and style. Daily outdoor exercise like neighborhood walks will be a key component in keeping her in touch with her fans as she knows that every celebrity needs exposure. She is ready to make a big, lasting and most importantly positive impact on her forever family and those who meet her. Batgirl is gearing up to live her life as a house dog, so she is currently working on her house, crate and leash walking skills. She is determined to make it to the finish line and become a pro in each skill. Lots of practice as well as dedication from her family will put her on the right path to success. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
